God's Power and Fame

In everything God has a purpose and a plan. He is patient and works in His time to fulfill that plan.

As the million+ Israelites were getting ready to leave Egypt and head for the Promised Land through the desert they needed to be shown God's power at the start. Would they have left Egypt without evidence of God's power? Even though they were mistreated it was easier to remain in their routine that had been established after 400 years. They needed a catalyst to pack and move out into the unknown.

God knew that the path to the Promised Land was filled with huge obstacles--Canaanites, Hittites, Hivites oh my! God's powerful actions not only struck fear into the Egyptians but the news of God's fame spread throughout the region. The path to the Promised Land was not easy but it was easier because the stories of God paved the way.

It's comfortable to wallow in our misery and cry out to God for help. Its easy to get discouraged but we must remember that God loves us, hears our cries, and has a plan that He is in the process of fulfilling.

Our problems are opportunities for God to reveal his power, spread His fame and fulfill His purpose.
