the name above all names!
As I read this passage this morning all the events seem to crescendo at this moment. The healing of the lame man, the response of the Jews to Peters message and the challenge to silence the ministry of Peter and John. Light flooding. Darkness fighting. Two mighty mysterious forces colliding and then the name of Jesus is proclaimed. As darkness was doing everything it could to contain this name. Courage wells up in Peter and he let's it fly, "by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, by Him this man stands before you today!". At that very moment, at the mention of His name , light explodes and overwhelms the darkness. Jesus has been proclaimed, victory has been had. He has been invited, celebrated and He will come and He is always victorious. Jesus! Jesus! The wonderful powerful name to be proclaimed above all others. Darkness is defeated at the mention of His name. May we be a people who delight and swim in the glory of that truth. To Him be the glory. To Him be the power. How sweet the name of Jesus!
