Don't speak...

We see a couple of things in Mark 1:34. First we see that Jesus had power OVER the demons. We know that though--didn't we? The part that seems to throw us for a loop is why he would tell them ...wait, COMMAND them not to speak. Why would Jesus order them not to speak?

It would seem fair to reason that the answer could take us to the Great Commission. We were told to Go and make disciples. After that we are supposed to teach. Right?

When Jesus would perform a miracle the crowds would gather to see the next exciting thing that would happen. Were these crowds all disciples? isn't it safe to say that not even a portion of the masses were disciples? There were only 120 or so in the Upper Room.

Maybe the best way to answer is through a word picture. There are many artists throughout the history of the world that have created many wonderful works. The problem lies when we worship the art and forget about the artist. Do we worship the mountains, the sunset, the oceans----or God---the artist who created it all?

Jesus wasn't here only to point to the fact that He could do miracles. He had power or sickness, death, and even the forces of darkness. He also came to restore, redeem, reveal, and save.

It would seem that Jesus didn't want us to miss the rest of the message.
