Preserving Gods word through accountability

After 17 years (3 yrs in chapter 1 and 14 yrs in chapter 2) Paul seeks accountability to make sure that the word he is preaching is true. He wanted to preserve God's word. This is something that should be very important to all of us. One thing I have noticed is that some people listen in total agreement when someone is preaching about God or just speaking about God. It is a wonderful thing to be in agreement, but only if what is being said is truth. I've seen some preach some nonsense, but they sounded real good. It was to my disappointment to see that the listeners simply continued to nod "yes" in agreement. Not everyone that speaks about God is speaking truth. Some speak untruth unintentionally and some intentionally. But it's our job to sort it out before agreeing to it.

We are given two things to discern whether something is truth or not; "The Holy Spirit and God's word." We need to carefully listen and when we hear the spirit of God tell us that it something is untruth, then we must speak up and work it out with that person. Chances are they just need someone to help them be accountable for what they're saying. This is why Paul went to make sure that what he was teaching was true. He didn't want to find out that he was teaching untruth or running the race for no reason.

Seek accountability and preserve God's word by speaking only the truth.
