Journey Before the Jordan
Deuteronomy 4 just blew my mind! Moses talks about obedience of the law, moves into the dangers of idolatry and the wickedness of it, and then speaks abundantly on how awesome and amazing God is and all the wonders He brought the Israelites through.
This whole chapter blows my mind. I love the obedience of the law in the begining. Sometimes when I think about rules or laws I think "Man rules! Guess I can't have any fun!" but God here oh man He's telling me this " No no no lyle you don't understand. It's not that it's not fun, it's that these laws are here to protect. Protection for others and protection for yourself. When you observe them and follow them with joy in your heart, you bring them into my promise land. And when you bring them into my promise land, the promise land is more rich." Because these laws keep us from destroying each other and ourselves in all of God's PROMISES, the PROMISE land. It morphs our hearts to become more like His. His law, His word, His people, His heart.
Then it goes on saying "do not forget the things your eyes have seen or let them slip from your heart as long as you live..."Explanation of all of God's wonders with Israelites is further explained throughout the chapter. Now this is key, do not forget what He has brought you out of. Do not let slip your heart. I don't know about anyone else but sometimes I forget man, the great things God has done in my life. I start to form this wicked selfish heart that just wants more of the good stuff forgetting the greatness He has already given me. This is key do NOT forget these things. Do not forget what your eyes have seen. Do not forget His laws and what their PURPOSE is.
Me, I am trying to be this great man of God. I desire the promises the Lord has on my life. I desire to be all that I can be for Him and for others. I want to be the best servant for my King doing all He wills, I want to be the best friend that my brothers have, I want to be the best leader and servant of the students and peers in my ministries, I want to be the best loving boyfriend/husband for my girlfriend/wife one day, I want to be the best Father for my children raising them how my Heavenly Father has raised me one day. These are the desires of my heart and He has promises for them. How I rejoice that I hear my God calling me to observe and grow in Him and His laws that I will bring these into His promise land for my life. How I rejoice when I reminisce of how the Lord has brought me out of egypt and changed my heart to say the wonderful things I speak now. This is what it takes and this is my path I choose to follow. I can't wait to see God's promises!
Heavenly Father,
What an awesome prayer session I had with you before this, and then God everything prayed for BOOM spoken to me in your word. God I stand in awe of how great you are. God you have laid the path before me and I will walk in your ways. Lord I love how you have encouraged me in my heart to follow you with joy. Why would I not for you are good. When I remember all that you have brought me through God how could I forget how great you are?! Wow! God you are awesome, you brought me out of the pit and now we journey through to your promises and God I am so glad. You are exalted on high God I will praise your name on this journey let's do this God! *High five* I love you God so so so so so so so so so so so much!!!!!!!! I love you! In Jesus' name I pray!
