Is My Church Messy?
This passage in Mark says that disreputable sinners hung out around Jesus. If that was the kind of the people that followed Jesus when He walked the earth then why is it that so many of our churches are safe, clean pretty? Shouldn't we have messy churches filled with disreputable people? If your church is known as one of "those churches" then just smile and realize that you are in good company, because Jesus was known as one of "those people".
Lord, make my church and life messy because I am reaching out to those that others would call unlovely or disreputable. I don't "want to live within the sound of a church or chapel bell; I want to run a rescue shop within a yard of hell". (C.T. Studd)
