Use Words to Inspire not Injure

Words have the power to inspire or injure. Ps 120:4 describes words as sharp arrows of the warrior, which means they are accurate and piercing. Most, if not all of us have experienced that effect. Coals of the broom tree are used by desert travelers to provide warmth for them during the night. This is because they ignite easily and burn for a long time. Words can cause immediate reaction that last for a long (or even a life) time. That's why Proverbs want us to pay attention to the words we use and the emotions we project along with it. A soft answer is not about speaking in a low voice, it is carefully choosing the right words with the corresponding emotional projection that inspires and not injure. No one is perfect and we all have the "slip of the tongue" moments. But when you consciously and conscientiously attempt always to speak words of life and blessing, not only will you encourage others, you will enrich your life too.
