My Prayer For Today: How far do I go to COMPEL?
Ahhhhh... What a question I am posed with today? When you hit a verse of scripture and it nails you right between the eyes. This guy throwing the party in Luke 14-- He has sent out invitations like crazy. He has been rejected like crazy. And yet he is DETERMINED. He will not give up. So the master sends his servant to the city streets, the homeless shelters, the back alleys-- and after that there is still room. SO AGAIN the master sends out his servant to the Country side. He tells his servants "COMPEL them to come in"(NKJV) and in the Message version it reads "whoever you find, DRAG THEM IN."
My God, My God, My God. Have I gone to far in trying to be politically correct and not offend people that I don't go out and DRAG THEM IN? COMPEL THEM TO COME? I know I have. I know I have. But my God, my Lord, my Father, my Master is telling me today to COMPEL people to join God's family. To join his kingdom.
I heard Craig Groeschel from lifechurch.tv say this concerning the reason he is so forceful in his evangelism-- Why shouldn't I be? If I don't, these people will go to hell. I WILL TO DO ANYTHING SHORT OF SINNING to get people saved!!!!
Father God, you are working in me. Give me the courage to speak up. Give me the courage, the wisdom and the boldness to COMPEL people into Your kingdom. The thought of it is, honestly, scary to me. But at the same time exhilarating. Help me Lord as I make this change in my life. Amen.
