Tenants of Life

God created this beautiful world for us, he filled it with everything we need to live and prosper. And we did.

But then we got greedy. We developed pride in what our hands have made, forgetting that all things came from our Creator. We glorify ourselves. We give in to temptations and revel in our bad habits.

When God sent messengers to look in on us, instead of sending a message of gratitude and praise to Him, we turn our backs on the messengers and are even cruel to them. But God did not give up on us, He kept sending us messengers until finally He sent us His beloved Son. And what did we do? We crucified Him!

And until we change our ways, accepting Jesus in our hearts and thanking God for his unfailing providence, we are like the tenants in this parable. What do you think God, the owner of this life, will do to us if we keep being cruel to Him?... If we keep hurting Him and crucifying His beloved Son with our actions?...

If we were to step into the vineyard owner's shoes in this parable - will you not punish the tenants for what they have done to you?

Jesus is the way, the truth and the life - He has shown us the way to our Heavenly Father, He has saved us! God does not ask much from us - all He wants is for us to love Him and to love our neighbors as ourselves. Let us try to be good tenants of this life God has rented out to us.
