strengthen their faith
1 Samuel 23:16
"Jonathan went to find David and encouraged him to stay strong in his faith in God."
Even the strongest of us needs a 'Jonathan' every now and then to come to where we are and strengthen our faith. God knows that we are too weak to do life alone, and he wired us to live in authentic community with others.
Just yesterday I received a text from a friend saying that their spouse had a very bad day and needed some encouragement. At first I was less than happy at the 'interruption' and how I'd have to rearrange my day to make time for him. But as we talked and hung out, I found that it truly was a God-moment and he truly needed a 'jonathan' at that moment. Now I'm glad I made myself available for him so that I could strengthen his faith.
1. Do I readily ask for and receive help from others, or am I too proud for that?
2. Do I readily accept opportunities to help others in their time of need?
3. Do I practice enough discernment to know when it's a true need that requires my time, or if it's something I shouldn't get involved in and should enlist someone else?
