Jesus prays before acting

I believe this is an example of Jesus praying to God, the Father, for direction. He prayed. Then He tells Simon, we have to leave to other towns.
Many times in my life, I didn't stop for direction. I pray for God help me in this or that having not stopped to ask if I should be on that path at all. This, in my opinion, is why I've moved in the wrong direction and unknowningly sinning by going against the will of God.
So I pray:
Father in Heaven,
I haved sinned and I ask forgivness. Guide me, Lord, to do and move in your will. Give rememberence, strength, and patience to wait and move in your divine will. Help me seperate from selfishness. My will is strong, impulsive, and stuborn. But the new creature you've made me to be will not allow this selfish child to move this vessel anymore. Thank you, Father, for all you've shown me through the word and life. Thank you for bringing me here and humbling me. It hurts sometimes but you strengthen me. I rejoice in this pain; it is evidence that in your discipline I am your child.
