People pleaser no more, Luke 6:26, day 77, Bible in 90 days
Scripture: Luke 6:26 MSG
"There's trouble ahead when you live only for the approval of others, saying what flatters them, doing what indulges them. Popularity contests are not truth contests-look how many scoundrel preachers were approved by your ancestors! Your task is to be true, not popular.
Observation: These are Jesus' words, not mine. His instructions are clear as day, be TRUE, not popular. He also says that we are not to do things for others just to indulge them. But that's easier said than done right?
Observation: In high school I remember wanting to be chosen as captain of the cheerleading team. First chair in band. Class president. What do all of these things have in common? Popularity. We all want to be liked, even accepted by others, it just makes our lives so much easier. Or so we think. In reality, the approval of Jesus is all we will ever need. When our lives come to an end, will any of those folks we tried to please back in the day even matter? Nope. Not even a little bit.
Prayer: Father I thank You for showing me the way to Your approval. Please keep me humble, so that I strive only to serve and please You. Keep me focused on Your word, today and always. In Jesus' name, Amen.
