Restitution

Read in Ezra 4 how Rehum and Shimshai had reported the rebuilding of the temple to Emperor Cyrus. He commands that the work stop immediately.

However when the people start building again, led by 2 prophets of the Lord, their enemies come around like hyenas again, but this time when a search is made for the old records, lo and behold, the document that is found not only gives permission from the emperor, it actually makes the emperor the principal sponsor. He's the one building the temple. Amazing. He has apparently promised to sponsor the building as well as its contents!!

I believe that just as Jesus turns water into wine, here God turned a ban into a permit, and He still does that in the life of the believer. Is this not also seen when Mordecai is saved and his enemy Haman dies on the very gallows he wanted to kill Mordecai on [Esther 6:10; Esther 7]? God is way too cool. Yes, our adversaries who want to cripple us must end up paying our fare, out of taxes, our of their pockets, they must help us worship the Lord.

May God turn your sorrows into joy, mourning into dancing, and tears into laughter. May "no!"s become "yes!"s. Sickness and death turn to health and life, stumbling stones are stepping stones.
