It Only Takes a Crumb

This passage is so rich with good news that it is hard to know where to start. I suppose a good place to start would be that the bread that belongs  to God's children is deliverance, healing and freedom. It's not dessert or icing on the cake, but rather it is bread, a staple of our diet. Jesus said that He is the Bread of Life (John 6:48), He is Manna from Heaven, He is the Word of God (Rev 19:13).

It is God's Word (Jesus) that brings healing and wholeness. Proverbs 4:20-22 tells us that whoever finds the word of God and doesn't let it out of their sight, it is life to them and health to their whole body. The Syro-Phoenician woman found the Word of God and kept Him in front of her until she received life and health for her daughter.

Another point to be made here pertains to the amount of bread she received. CRUMBS. She didn't get a loaf of bread. She didn't get a slice of bread. She received mere crumbs. The Good News is that even tiny crumbs of the Bread of Life brings restoration, healing and freedom. As children of God we get a daily supply. Our Dad owns the bakery! We have an abundance. That's GOOD NEWS!!!

Now what about this woman being called a dog. How does she even get a crumb? Jesus said that it was for the children. Why does she get what He said wasn't hers? I believe the answer is FAITH. It is by faith in Jesus Christ that we are called children of Abraham (Galatians 3:7). So it was the faith of the Syro-Phoenician woman that qualified her for the bread. I have heard some preachers say that healing has passed away and that it was only for the children of Israel. These scriptures prove that to be false. By faith we are His children and co-heirs with Christ.

It only takes a crumb. So why don't you take a whole big bite and taste and see that the Lord is good!!
