Evil doesn't come from God

I hear this verse often quoted to explain why/how God not only allows suffering, but sends it.

He sends it?

Was it God that sent this affliction on Job? Earlier verses in chapter one suggest that this evil, affliction, pain and unexplanable suffering comes from satan.

How you view this passage of scripture determines how you will view our God that is good...who's mercy endures forever...who is patient and kind...who enters into our suffering with us. But does he SEND it?

My point here is in the details of "allowing" and "sending". I can't believe God sends afflictions and still be a good, loving, caring and compassionate God. Jesus told me that the evil one comes to steal, kill and destroy, but he (Jesus) comes to give live to the full (John 10:10).

There's room for suffering and God still be good to us in the midst of our suffering. That's good news...that's the gospel...that Jesus steps into our moments of suffering and works to sustain us and ultimately bring us out!

Keep in mind that every scripture is threaded with the presence of Jesus and the OT is a foreshadow of his incarnation. Suffering is in this world not because of God, but because of the fall.

What do you think?
