Love means correction

Paul apologizes to the church at Corinth if they were hurt by his corrections. But, he loves them too much to let their sins before God be unchecked. He wanted them to be growing in the Lord and in love towards each other. He could not be silent. God treats us as His beloved children and will discipline us also in love, not in anger. He loves us too much to let us live our lives in opposition to Him and His loving ways. We must also correct others in love when we see them drifting from God. However, we are not to be sin-sniffers.
