You are NOT the Father

Scripture: Matthew 1:24-25 MSG

Then Joseph woke up. He did exactly what God’s angel commanded in the dream: He married Mary. But he did not consummate the marriage until she had the baby. He named the baby Jesus.

Observation: Can you imagine how Joseph must have felt? An ANGEL appeared to him and told him His wife would bear God’s son. GOD’S son! Not Joseph’s. Back in the day, folks didn’t have sex before marriage, so Joseph knew for a fact that he was NOT the father (and he didn’t need Maury to tell him? Lol). But what FAITH he must have had to believe that Mary wasn’t pregnant by some other man, but that she would bear a Savior!

Application:

Have you ever had to put your “common sense” on the backburner to follow what God wants you to do? It’s hard sometimes, right? I’m sure having an angel to tell you is probably a little easier, but what if there are not ‘obvious’ signs pointing you in the right direction? Do you fully trust God?

Prayer:

Father I thank You for ALL the ways you are working in my life, not only in the ways I don’t see, but also in the ways that are clear as day! Thank You for waking me up this morning and thank You for the health and safety of my family, both here and in Tennessee. Please continue to watch over them as they go about their day, and let them know that You are there, if they ever feel lonely or afraid. And if there is someone reading this blog who does not know You, keep sending them to places where they can learn about You the way that I did: in small, easy to understand passages. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
