Passing on the Torch

It's really cool how Moses asks for God to appoint the next leader. Moses knew that his end was coming and his time was up. (God told him.) He accepts the fact and prepares for the next step.

A good leader knows when to step down. He or she does not try to hoard the leadership even after his or her time has passed. He/she knows how to seek out and train the next leader and step down when it is the successor's time to step up. The old leader willingly "gives up" the position by passing on the torch. That is when the old leader is recognized, and respected as the honorable one.
