The first "On Star"? Matthew 2:9-10, Blogging through the Gospels, day 2
Scripture: Matthew 2:9-10 MSG
Instructed by the king, they set off. Then the star appeared again, the same star they had seen in the eastern skies. It led them on until it hovered over the place of the child. They could hardly contain themselves: They were in the right place! They had arrived at the right time!
Observation: I can only imagine how they must have felt, following a star! In my version of the Bible (The Message Remix) the star is called a "birth announcement" star. LOL! It could also be called an OnStar since it got the scholars where they needed to be. King Herod wanted them to report back to him when they found Jesus (he wanted Him dead) but once they say baby Jesus and His Mama, they fell on their faces to workship them!
Application: Have you ever followed a 'sign' to get to a new place? Maybe it was a series of signs, all pointing in the same direction. How did you know it was a God-tested path? We don't always have a sign as bright as the "birth announcement" star, so this is when having a true connection to God is so important! if you are truly connected to Him, you never have to worry about being led in the wrong direction. Like the Psalmist said 'His road stretches straight and smooth, and everyone who take's God's path, makes it."
Prayer: Father I thank You for Your word this morning. I thank You for the birds singing outside my window, for the quiet of my home and for the promise of another wonderful day. Thank You for working on my behalf in several instances yesterday, and for a good night's sleep. Thank You for removing the distractions from my life little by little. Help me to always see Your star, and to know to follow it. In Jesus' name, Amen.
