Predictions
As all know, today is 12/21/12 and according to the Mayan calendar, if I am not mistaking, the world is suppose to have come to an end.
Well, what happen? Nothing! The world is still here and guess what, no one, and I mean no one can predict the end of the world, not even Jesus as He told us in the gospels.
Life will go as we know it until God the Father says it is time!
So anyone who thinks they can predict end of the world and think there is coded messages within scriptures, just forget about it, because there is not!
Peter states it plainly in verse 10 of chapter 3;
"But the day of the Lord will come like a thief..."
Simple explanation I think, because we cannot predict if a thief is coming. All of sudden he there! This is the way it will happen when the Lord bring the world as we know it to an end.
Jesus in Matthew 24 quoted "However, no one knows the day or hour when these things will happen, not even the angels in heaven or the Son himself. Only the Father knows."
Yet people continue to predict the end times and the sad part of it, many people believe these people predictions, and church also is guilty of trying to predict, instead of listening to God.
Jesus told us about these false prophets and so does Peter, yet many people in search for the meaning of life, will not turn to the Life the Truth and the Way. They rather believe in these false teachers.
But listen, here is plain truth, we don't know when the Lord will return, as Peter tells us;
"With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years is like a day."
So don't be discourage regarding His return, but be prepared! The Lord is never slow in keeping His promises, though we may think so. God timing is perfect. There are still many people who needs to hear the gospel and until the last one on God's list has accepted Him, then the rapture of the church will take place I believe, then the end will come and Jesus will return.
So continue to be faithful and believe. Continue studying Gods word and put into practice in your every day life.
Remember this, your are an example of what Jesus may look to others and maybe the only Christ they will know will based their decision on how we act.
Our mission is to continue to get the gospel out and as Jesus said, if you know Me, then you will know My Father. Well it is basically the same with us. Since we claim to know and have a relationship with Jesus, it is by us that they will know Jesus. If our actions, words and deeds don't correspond to God's word, then their is a chance we'll loose that person or they will get a false image of who Jesus is.
So here is the bottom line, you can't predict the coming 2nd coming of Christ or the end of the world. As brothers and sister in Jesus, we need to put on the whole Armour of Christ to fight this spiritual war for Jesus as His ambassadors on earth until we are call ed by the Lord or the end has come.
Basically be prepare is the bottom line and don't believe any ones predictions, because they will come and go, there is no truth in them. The only truth that will predict His coming is His word and He is not telling us except that He will come as a thief in the night.
