    Many would point to this chapter as proof that God's laws are no longer in effect. We could read plenty of Paul's other writings about the law to clearly show he meant nothing of that sort. Here, I just want to point out that the subtitle reads "Not Legalism but Christ" when this portion of the chapter isn't about God's law or legalism.     First of all, Paul is a brilliant teacher. In Hebrews he is explaining to Jewish brethren in the early Church that they need to pay their tithes to the Church's ministry, who are now here in Christ's stead, rather than continuing to pay their tithes to the Levitical priesthood. He does so by coming in through the back door, by going back to the beginning of a subject which is often helpful.     And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being. The word "being" is translated from the Hebrew word "nephesh" which implies air breathing fleshly creature.
