  Interesting to note that John was a proper priest. Reading 2 Kings 1:7-8, you see that Elijah wore the same clothes. Reading Luke 1:5 onward, you'll see that both John's Father and Mother were of priestly decent, and his Father was a priest, serving in the Temple.
