anicoletti added a text contribution Deutoronomy 15:10 - Blessed to be a BlessingIts amazing the difference between the world and the kingdom of God. The world says, "Get everything you can and hold it for yourself," God says, "Get everything you have and give it away." God blesses us in our daily walk with Him so that we can be a blessing to others, not to horde it to ourselves. Read more »

anicoletti added a text contribution Deutoronomy 11:26-28 - The obvious choice?Given the option between a blessing or a curse, I'm pretty sure almost 100% of us would want the blessing. But do we really live our lives that way? God's Word is still true, and we still have that same choice every day to live by a blessing or a curse. Not that we are under the law still, and that God punishes us for our disobedience, but that when we reject the blessings of God, we open a foothold for the enemy to come in. It's funny, and sad, how the most obvious decisions w… Read more »

anicoletti added a text contribution Deuteronomy 11:19Moses is telling the Israelites that they need to put the Word of God as the forefront of their lives so much that it because apparent to everyone around them. That whenever we wake up in the morning, drive to work, go to lunch, talk to friends, every moment of our lifes, we should be spilling out the Word of God to those around us. Not by shoving it down their throats, but by the mere fact that when we've encountered the Living God in such an intimate way, it just becomes natural that we r… Read more »

anicoletti added a text contribution Galatians 1 - Not of Man...Paul reiterates the fact that the Gospel he is preaching is not of man five times in chapter one! FIVE! (not sent from man, nor the agency of man ... is not according to man ... not received it from man ... did not consult with flesh and blood). Seems like he was trying to get the point across to the church of Galatia that the focus is on the spiritual, not the physical... on God, not man. He continues on in the letter to drive home this idea as he show the contrasting views on law versus gra… Read more »

anicoletti added a text contribution Deuteronomy 10:20 - Cling...I love how the NASB uses the word "cling" in this verse: "You shall fear the Lord your God; you shall serve Him and CLING to Him..." It paints an amazing picture in my mind of a young child grabbing and holding onto the pantleg of one of their parents like there life depended on it. In the same way, we should to clinging onto God like our lives depend on it, because in short, it does! This also puts "faith like a child" into a new perspective. Read more »

anicoletti added a text contribution Deuteronomy 10:16 - Its about the AttitudeThe sons of Abraham made a covenant with God to have a physical circumcision, but the implications of this were much more than just a physical act. The Israelites lost that part and just did the "ritual" and lefts it at the physical, but God also wants us to circumcise our hearts towards Him. The physical is for nothing unless it is accompanied by a change in attitude as well. This is the same statement Jesus was making when He said "You must pick up your cross and follow Him"… Read more »

anicoletti added a text contribution Hebrews 7:22-28 - High PriestThe people of God in the Old Testament would have to go before the high priest of that time to receive forgiveness and cleansing of their sins. They went before fallible men, who themselves needed to be cleansed. The high priest received cleansing by sacrifice as well. All this by the law that was given to them, telling the how to be cleansed. Then came Jesus, who became the High Priest, not by lineage, but by appointment from God through a new oath. This new High Priest was able to forgive sin… Read more »

anicoletti added a text contribution Ezekiel 11:17-20 - One Heart...If we want to see God's glory return to our homes, our cities, our nation, we need to turn from our sins and self-depravity and turn our hearts back to God. Only then can we see Philippians 2:1-2 lived out; Christians living in community with one heart, one spirit, one focus, one cry, one prayer. Read more »

anicoletti added a text contribution Numbers 32:5 - Losing FocusObservation: Its funny how often God has promised great things for us, but we'd rather not wait on God's timing and try to take hold of what looks best to us for that moment. The Reubenites and Gadites have heard the promise of God about the land of across the Jordan. They have already seen how God was displeased with the 12 that said they should not follow God into the promise He has given them. And yet, they still find it easier to sit and take hold of what they have in front of… Read more »

anicoletti added a text contribution Mark 10:1 - Divine HumorI love these little things that God put into the Word that are so profound, yet just right out funny. "And as was his custom, he taught them." Oh look, there's Jesus! Wonder what he's gonna do? Maybe he'll do a magic trick or something. Oh wait, he's teaching us again... =) Read more »

anicoletti added a text contribution Mark 10:17,18 - None Good but GodI feel this statement served two-fold. First, I think it was a gut-check for the young man who obviously felt like he deserved to go to heaven. If you ready his response to Jesus about keeping the commandments, he answered, "Oh yeah, been there, done that, give me something harder to do." But none can keep all the commandments without fault, except one (Jesus of course). The statement served to dispel the notion that any of us are good. (On a side note, even though Jesus knew he didn… Read more »

anicoletti added a text contribution Mark 16:6 - Amazed? So you walk up to what you expect to be a sealed tomb, just to find the huge stone blocking the entranced moved, the "dead" person gone, and an angel sitting there... and his first words to you are "Don't be amazed" (NASB) ??? Seriously? I'm sorry, but if I was in there shoes, I would have been freaking out! But the truth of the matter is we too easily get amazed when God does the stuff He already told or promised us He was going to do. I'm not saying we sho… Read more »
