    Is the gift of tongues for today? Of course, it did not pass away and nothing of the sort is tought anywhere in scripture. Is speaking in tongues often misused and misunderstood in church? Of course. Paul gives instructions on tongues during public assembly and explains what it's for.     Daniel was taken out of his environment and thrown into a drastically new one. I equate this to being transferred to a new school. Daniel made a very significant decision as this transplant took place. He chose not to defile himself.
