dawn_carter added a text contribution God Fights for Me
How I needed to hear that Jacob-wrestling God fights for me. I've recently joined a team of women who pray for other women at our church while they are in support groups for Sexual Abuse healing. Having gone through the curriculum myself, I know how terrifying, overwhelming and hopeless the journey to healing can seem. This is why we fight, on our knees, for the hour that they meet. I've never done anything like this before, but God brings verses to pray over them, specific issues to… Read more »

dawn_carter added a text contribution Calling Out
The Message says "The moment I called out, you stepped in"... so if this is true, why don't I ever call out? Why do I... ...think I can go about the business of my day without Your help? ...rely on my own wisdom in making decisions? ...think You're impressed with my competence? ...act like you'll be mad at me if I bug you with my life, my little stuff? Why do I not call out? You say You'll enlarge my strength when I do. You'll step in when I call out. Lor… Read more »

I am struck by the detail with which God instructs Moses in the presentation of acceptable offerings. A reading of Leviticus 22 as a whole gives one the unmistakable impression that it matters to God what his priests bring him. There is a link between offering God worthy sacrifices and bringing glory or shame to His name. They are connected. Bring leftovers to Him and it dishonors Him. Bring him what He requires and it honors Him. I don't offer burnt offerings to God in a temple, but what… Read more »

dawn_carter added a text contribution How Would I Answer?
Here is Joseph, just released from being falsely imprisoned... quickly cleaned up and shaven so he'd be presentable to the most powerful person in his world, Pharaoh. Joseph is asked, "I hear that you are pretty talented; that you can do amazing things. You reputation precedes you... is this true?" And with this, Joseph's humble character responds: "I cannot do it, but God can." Wow. When given the opportunity to impress important or influential people, do I take th… Read more »

dawn_carter added a text contribution Is Online Fellowship Real?
I've heard this question asked lately and I have to say, a resounding YES. I like how the AMP version renders these verses. "If two of you agree [harmonize together, make a symphony together] about whatever [anything and everything] they may ask, it wlll come to pass..." sounds like "how" they got together is immaterial. I praise God for the harmony of His followers who are drawn together via the internet. The fellowship, prayer support and encouragement from my "C… Read more »

In this miracle, I observe the servants, the ones who just got ordered around by Jesus' mom, the ones who just had to deal with the six stone jars of water.... i notice that they obeyed Jesus precisely (don't think they had much choice in whether they obeyed or not, they were, after all servants). They obeyed him thoroughly (they didn't stop after filling their jars, but continued to respond to his requests) and they end up getting the "inside scoop" on he miracle He… Read more »

dawn_carter added a text contribution Walking Closely With God
Enoch walked closely with God. AMP says "in habitual fellowship" with God and MSG says "Enoch walked steadily with God." What a goal this year, to simply walk in habitual fellowship with God. To live like Brother Lawrence did, practicing the presence of God. To actually stay "vitally connected to the Father" like Jesus talks about in John 15. Makes me think of a recent episode of "The Office" where Jim and Pam, dating but separated by distance, try to st… Read more »

dawn_carter added a text contribution Lasting Fruit
I was not the one who signed up for this adventure...Jesus chose me. Not only did He choose me, he appointed / assigned / expects me to fulfill a job for Him. This doesn't sound optional, the way He puts it. He expects me to bear everlasting fruit. How often in life I am side-tracked with the most foolish of pursuits...acquiring stuff, looking good, keeping busy with good activities. I so need to be reminded of my real purpose: to bear lasting fruit that will bring glory to God's name… Read more »
