This past week in our youth group we talked about the third part of our FOCUS series and that was Focus on Jesus. We talked about giving up our lives, ourselves for Jesus. This seems to me like this was the first organized church staff meeting in the bible. there was an issue with the congregation or the people that needed to be addressed and Jesus wasn't around to turn 5 into 5000 so the guys needed to get their heads together and figure out what they were going to do. God is reminding us that we are only here because he allowed us to be here. all the things that WE want to do with our life are meaningless in the light of eternity. i love the jesus talks to me. he has demanded everything. but he does it in a way that isn't demanding. It's almost like he is saying i need everything now, as soon as possible, NOT because i am a demanding person or a demanding God. but because I love you. i love the imagery that is used in the message bible for these verses. all these things that jesus lists off. slander, greed, lust. all of these are vomit of the heart. these are the things that are the pollution in our life. when they come out of our heart, it is less like words and more like vomit. today was the annual event of see you at the pole. i am going to be speaking for another youth group and i am not really going to be talking about this event as much as i am about what is going to happen after this event. now the students have shown that they are Christ followers and now have the responsibility of being bold in Christ.
