Perhaps I am off base here, but I imagine this verse to mean that as on earth we have days set aside to present ourselves to the Lord in worship - it is a model from heaven where the "Sons of God… Read more »

dlampley added a text contribution "God hates me . . . "Evidence that . . . . feelings are a LOUSY indicator of the TRUTH. We have some information that Job wasn't privy to. We know God's thoughts and intentions as it relates to Job. Job didn't know. He was only able to look at the state of things, and then judge accordingly. Read more »

dlampley added a text contribution Can't see Him!I can just so appreciate this quick statement of the obvious in the middle of Job's dazzling description of an all powerful, soveriegn God. As powerful and mighty as He is . . . . I can't see Him. Where it not this way . . . . faith would simply not be necessary at all. right? Like . . . . who wouldn't follow the God that fits Job's description that they can also . . . SEE? Read more »

dlampley added a text contribution Fair questions . . .At the point, it would seem that these are fair questions. Job has certainly refrained from cursing God, but he's cursed everything else. Sounds like he was a stand-up dude . . . in his prosperity. Read more »

dlampley added a text contribution Curse God?So . . . everyone seemed to know intuitively that "cursing God" was "the solution" to the misery. I wonder why? Cultural? I mean . . . when I'm having a hard time, I'm not sittin around itchin to "curse God." More likely, I'm tempted to simply take things into my own hands and find a way, rather than trust God. Or, I just gripe and moan, or maybe internalize the whole thing. Then again . . .... Read more »

dlampley added a text contribution Does God really need to ask questions?God keeps asking Satan what he's been up to. And I'm thinkin that . . . our soveriegn God already knows exactly what he's been up to. Maybe God just ask questions like that for the sake of conversation? . . . . for the sake of . . . . being relational? hmmmm? (chin scratch) Read more »

I know that I shouldn't read to much theology into these few verses but . . . did God really have to "come down" to see what the people were up to? Like . . . He didn't know already? And it sounds as if He was caught by surprise? So, there are just a number of verses, particularly in Genesis that kinda trouble me as a reformed guy. Read more »

dlampley added a text contribution God with regret??I'll have to admit that this kinda messes with my understanding of God's sovereignty. How could God be sorry for something He did? Does that mean that He felt it was a mistake? Read more »

dlampley added a text contribution Made us to be like Him.So, we are spiritual beings . . . like God. Rather than earth suits with a spirit, we are rather spiritual beings with an earthsuite. (Identity) I could go on, but check out Lifetime Guarantee by Bill Gillham. These are concepts that I've picked up from him and they make a lot of sense to me. Read more »
