Zephaniah 1:1 1 The word of Jehovah which came unto Zephaniah the son of Cushi, the son of Gedaliah, the son of Amariah, the son of Hezekiah, in the days of Josiah the son of Amon, king of Judah. --Zephaniah had royal heritage, and was the son of what some believe to be a dark skinned man. For all of this there is no indication of him being a "major" figure in his day. 2 I will utterly consume... Read more »

This book describes a prophet whom for the most part is "hidden". Hence the meaning of his name "The Lord Has Hidden". Zephaniah is hidden in the fact that his ministry is not really referred to by other prophets (hence the fact that he plays a minor role). Given his lineage, he comes from a family that bears relation to royalty, yet for all of that he is a somewhat obscure preacher and suitably... Read more »

Proverbs 11 1 Dishonest scales are an abomination to the Lord, But a just weight is His delight. [This verse gives no discourse on why or how the scales became just or unjust. But focuses on the current state of the scales. When good people become hurt, they feel to tip the scales for revenge sake, or a wicked man whom fears "Karma" treats people just.] 2 When pride comes, then comes shame; But... Read more »

vs.1 [1 The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish son is the heaviness of his mother.] When read in context, you have to understand the patriarch's and their polygamous system. Because a father usually had a wife and concubines, a son would compete amongst other children for the fathers favor. And this could be gained through the usage of wisdom. But failure to... The thought is that wisdom has already prepared these things. This combined... Read more »

vs.1 - "Does not wisdom cry" It is interesting to note, that the beginning of the verse refers to wisdom crying, but the end of the passage refers to wisdom trying to be found. So hence we have a screaming voice that is as verse 2 says in the certain places screaming and yet cannot be found of men. vs.2-3 " 2 On the heights along the way, where the paths meet, she takes her stand; (3) beside the... vs. 3 "Bind them upon thy fingers" is a reference to wisdom being a force which restrains the hands. Most of scripture is to be "Bound upon thy Heart". Only other reference is found within Duet. 6:8. Question is, do we really bind scripture. Binding is used to strengthen the core relation. Binding is also a term used in programming (refering to creating a relationship between source and specific... Read more »

Proverbs 6:1-3 The first verse has 2 distinct references grouped together as one; 1. If you have become surety for a friend. 2. Stricken your hand (made an agreement) with a neighbor. These 2 distinct references do not deal with "blood covenant" so much as they deal with agreements. The first agreement focuses on becoming "surety" which is along the line of co-signer with emphasis on Friend or "Neighbor"... Read more »
