epicfaith added a text contribution Faithfulness - It's not what you thinkFear is what keeps you from developing the Talents that God gave you. Fear of conflict, Fear of Failure, Fear of criticism. Fear of the unknown In Matthew 25:14-30 Jesus tell us a parable about a Master and his servants. Two servants took a risk and invested the money and doubled it. These two servants moved against their fear and the result was fruitful. They put themselves out on the limb were they were bound to fail unless God moved on their behalf and they doubled their money. Notice… Read more »

epicfaith added a text contribution Religion vs RelationshipThe Apostle Paul boast about his religions background and how he did everything that Hebrew law required to make him Righteous. But he found out that what he thought was adding to his Righteous was really not that important. What is important is knowing Christ. His relationship with Christ is the source of his righteous, not the following of the law. The Apostle Paul also tells us that Religion is not the same as Relationship with Christ and Relationship with Christ is not the same as Religi… Read more »

epicfaith added a text contribution Command, Act, ResultJesus commanded Peter to act, “Put out into the deep water and let down your nets for a catch.” Peter acted, against his natural knowledge and training, in spite of the fact that the prime time to catch fish had passed. Only after acting did Peter and other get the result of the command. We should remember that this is how God speaks to us. He commands us to action and he produces the results. Our problem is that we think that he commands us to action and we are to produce the results. If… Read more »

epicfaith added a text contribution The Spirit of the Lord is upon me to...This is a popular scripture because the captives are set free, the blind can see and the oppressed are set free. This scripture is even more popular to preachers, myself included, because we believe this scripture is telling us that the preacher is anointed to do these things or does it? It says that we are anointed, not to do these things, but to preach and proclaim. The Word of God is anointed to release the captives, to open the blind eyes and to free the oppressed. This is a good reminde… Read more »

epicfaith added a text contribution Bizarro ChristiansBizarro is a fictional supervillain that appears in comic books published by DC Comics. Bizarro had powers that were the reverse of Superman: such as freeze vision (as opposed to heat vision) and flame breath (as opposed to frost breath). Because of this the term Bizarro has become well known in popular culture and is used to describe anything that is the opposite of something else. The Apostle Paul wrote to the people of Corinth to not associate with immoral people. By this he meant people… Read more »

epicfaith added a text contribution Outcome vs ExecutionHad an interesting conversation yesterday. I was talking with a friend about a familiar passage of the Bible. It’s called the Parable of the Talents (Matthew 25:14-30). Jesus told this story. He told lots of stories. Read it. I’ve probably read that passage a hundred times, but this new learning jumped out yesterday. Consider the “master” in the story. His reaction to all three servants is very interesting. When the servant with five talents doubled his money, the master said, “well done.” When… Read more »

One definition of trust is "certainty based on past experience." The psalmist is saying that the children of Israel did not trust God because they were not certain that God would deliver them in the wilderness. In v 21 we see that God was mad at them because he had delivered them time and time again, yet they had no trust in him. Read more »

epicfaith added a text contribution Kill the DreamerIt seems that whenever you have a God Given Dream there will be people that will want to kill the dream, destroy the dream and do everything in their power to stop you from fulfilling the dream. They will get mad that God talked to you and not them, they will tell you that you are not qualified, that you do not have enough training or schooling. They will say that you are too young or too old or you grew up on the wrong side of the tracks. But there will also always be a small group of peopl… Read more »

epicfaith added a text contribution You will know them by their fruits.Matt 7:17 “So every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 “A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, nor can a bad tree produce good fruit. As Christians, we tend to think that if we say we are good, we are good. We tend to think that if we pretend we are good, we are good. We think that if we appear good, we are good. If we look good on Sunday, we are good. Jesus tells us the truth and it is not what we think. He said that if we are good then we will produce goo… Read more »

epicfaith added a text contribution Grace in the GarmentsI have heard that one definition of Grace is God working for us. This verse gives a clear picture of God's Grace. God making garments of skin and clothed Adam & Eve in their nakedness. Why did he cloth them? Because their attempt to cloth themselves in Gen 3:7 was not sufficient. This is the problem with religion. It is man trying to cover his nakedness with his own works instead of relying on Grace and Forgiveness. Notice that even though Adam covered himself, he still hid when… Read more »

epicfaith added a text contribution Indomitable SpiritNehemiah was in the process of rebuilding the wall around Jerusalem when the leaders of enemy nations tried to discourage him, with fear and intimidation. I love his prayer. ” But now, O God, strengthen my hands. Nehemiah didn't ask God to take his enemies away, He prayed that God would help him to finish the job in presence of his enemies. Nehemiah didn't ask God to stop his enemies for attacking him, He prayed that God would help him to finish the job while his enemies were attacking… Read more »
