grapevine777 added a text contribution Complacency within the churchClearly, Jesus has a reason for everything he instructs us to do. He is a God of order and purpose. He says we are to go to the lost sheep. We need to not get sidetracked by all of the social activites to the point we lose site of our purpose. Fellowship is wonderful and refreshing, but we must never become complacent to the point where we get comfortable and lose sight of our purpose...to go to the lost sheep. Read more »

He is saying that the people "the dead" are dead because they are not following him. They have no greater purpose as opposed to the scribe who did have a greater purpose--following Jesus. So Jesus was saying let the [spiritually] dead bury their [physically] dead because Jesus and the scibe DID have more important -- [supernatural] work to do. Read more »
