jlehmann added a text contribution The great recession
Wow! What a beautiful example of the love a church shows, even when they have no real money to give. It says that these people were flat broke, and yet it also says that they still gave beyond their means. I wonder why the church today can't do the same thing. Why is it that when the economy is down, the church stops giving as much? Maybe it's because we have too many idols that receive our money and attention instead. You think? Read more »

jlehmann added a text contribution final curtain call
How crazy is it, that even as Christ was hanging on the cross dying, people were wanting miracles even with the true message of the gospel right in front of their very eyes? Read more »

jlehmann added a text contribution More then a magic show
Herod reminds me of so many modern day "christians." He was excited to see Jesus not because of the message that Jesus had to bring, but because of the miracles that he had heard about. So many "christians" today are the exact same way. Whenever people hear about a famous televangelist coming to a church, they always rush to get the closest seats because they want to see him work his "magic" and "miracles." And it's because we get so wrapped up in… Read more »

jlehmann added a text contribution Shake the haters off
It amazes me how when Jesus was asked if he was the king of the jews, he just basically said, "you know it." He gave no excuses or tried to explain anything. He just kept his answer simple and straight forward, even with his life on the line. Read more »

jlehmann added a text contribution Shutup demon
You have to wonder, why would Jesus tell the demon to be quiet after the demon just stated that he knew who Jesus really was. Was it because Jesus knew that if the demon told people then it would mean they would only believe in him because of signs and miracles and not out of faith? Or was it because he knew what had to be done to save a dying world, and this could not be accomplished if everyone already knew who he was? Read more »

jlehmann added a text contribution Blind faith
Here it is again. This blind man had obviously never seen Jesus, but he had heard stories of him and his works. That along with his hope that Jesus brings got his site restored. It amazes me how time and time again, Jesus never took credit for his miracles. Every single time, He told the person "your faith has healed you" So why do we get mad at God when he doesn't do exactly what we ask him to do? Maybe it's not really because we don't have enough faith, because Jesus s… Read more »

jlehmann added a text contribution Where a kid can be a kid
I have always loved these few verses. If you think about it, it all makes perfect sense. Children have such a curious innocence about them. They are naturally curious and are always wanting to know more and more. They are also very trusting. When their daddy tells them to "go here" or "stay away from there" they may sometimes question why, but they know that daddy has their best interest at hand. They never worry about whether or not they are going to be fed because they know… Read more »

jlehmann added a text contribution so undeserving
This scripture is saturated with the scent of a patient and loving God. Not only do these passages give an idea how long God has been waiting for his people to return to him with his arms wide open, but it also talks about a people who are yearning to know more of a God they have just barely heard about. It seems that Paul's concern for the gentiles is that they can become perfect in their faith. Read more »

jlehmann added a text contribution just a little more time
I can not honestly say that i have ever heard this verse preached on. But as i read this verse here at 3 a.m. I couldn't help but realize that it seems an underlying implication of it is about God's love and patience for us. The reason i say that is because because it says "God's kindness is intended to lead you to repentance" And just a few verses before that paul was warning people about judging others. When we pass judgement on someone and wonder why God doesn't… Read more »

Now i know why so many "christians" fall short. Back then even as it is today, many people called themselves "christians." But because they didn't glorify God and give him thanks with their actions, thoughts, and words, it says in verse 24 that God gave them over to their sinful desires of their hearts. "Christians" seem to think that saying a poem of a prayer and filling out a card is what is going to get them into heaven. Well obviously it takes more then tha… Read more »

jlehmann added a text contribution Jesus on line 1
It is amazing to me how paul put this to the people. When he wrote the letter to the gentiles, he didn't make it sound like he was any better then they were by placing himself in an exclusive group of disciples. He also told them that they were "among those who are called to belong to Jesus."(nkj) The more i dwell on this verse, the more powerful it is to me. Peter, and James, and John were all called to be disciples. Paul and Timothy were called to be apostles. And according to P… Read more »

jlehmann added a text contribution Guilty as charged
Now i know that Judas had to turn over Jesus so that he could be crucified and pay the ultimate bloody price to save the entire world. But you have to wonder, if any of the other disciples heard Jesus tell Judas "Yes you are the one that is going to betray me". I would have to think that the devotion these disciples showed to Jesus would have been enough for them to tackle Judas at the door and stop him from the ultimate betrayal. Read more »

jlehmann added a text contribution In memory of.....
I can not imagine how compassionate i would be if someone dumped a hole bottle of perfume over my head. But instead of an insult, Jesus saw this as an act of worship. So much so, that he said that this woman and her act of worship and sacrifice would be remembered forever. I don't know if you realize this or not, but forever is a very very long time. Read more »

jlehmann added a text contribution Healing faith
It seems amazing to me that Jesus never takes credit for the miracles he performed. Every time that somebody got healed, it is because of their faith. Hmmmmm......if we can move mountains with faith as small as a mustard seed, just imagine what we could move with great faith. How about our communities, our cities, our states, or even our world. jlehmann added a text contribution Stubborn faith
This woman amazes me. Even as it seemed that Jesus was trying to blow her off, she persisted out of love for her daughter. She could have easily accepted Jesus telling her to go away and then turn and walk away rejected, but she didn't. She set the example of what it means to truly seek after God, and to truly press in. I don't think Jesus was really refusing her, I think he was just testing her to see how bad she really wanted it. When the bible tells us to "ask and it shall be g… Read more »
