kansasgirl added a text contribution Going from Good to Very Good
For as long as I can remember I have known the pattern of God creating something and then declaring it good with the change to very good when He created man. It is only in the last week that that has become more significant because it was brought to my attention that man did nothing to merit being very good, as opposed to only good. Adam had no time to perform, make the winning shot, cook a four course meal, bring home an A on a paper, or come up with the next great Nike slogan. God's d… Read more »

kansasgirl added a text contribution Idol of Human Approval
I am no better than the Romans Paul is addressing with this letter. I have known God, been raised to know Him since I was born, but I have not honored Him with my full devotion or even a proper acknowledgment of the great price He paid to redeem me. I have a working, functioning knowledge of all things "Christian", yet I have not grasped the full implications of what the Christian life means, giving myself fully to Him in all ways, seeking only His approval and resting in His love.… Read more »

[At the time of the fall] man lost his secure status with God and began to struggle with feelings of arrogance, inadequacy, and despair, valuing the opinions of others more than the truth of God. Teaching that man has meaning totally apart from God, hum… Read more »

Pages 132-135 The only things standing in the way of our beauty are our doubts and fears, and the hiding and striving we fall to as a result... beauty flows from a heart at rest... So the choice a woman makes is not to conjure beauty, but to let her defenses down. To choose to set aside her normal means of survival and just let her heart show up. Beauty comes with it... Peter doesn't mean that beautiful women rarely speak above a whisper, if they speak at all. No. To have a gentle and… Read more »

kansasgirl added a text contribution A Housewife's Love Chapter
If I keep my house immaculately clean, and am envied by all for my interior decorating, but do not show love in my family--I'm just another housewife. If I'm always producing lovely tings--sewing, art; if I always look attractive, and speak intelligently, but am not loving to my family--I am nothing. If I'm busy in community affairs, teach Sunday school, drive in the carpool, but fail to give adequate love to my family--I gain nothing. Love changes diapers, cleans up messes, an… Read more »

Some people would perceive this as a lie from God since when Adam and Eve did eat from the tree, they did not die but God is not talking about a physical death here. The death Adam and Eve experienced upon eating the fruit of the tree is a spiritual death, a death of their innocence, a death of their direct connection to God, the one who breathed life into them. Today, a little piece of us dies each time we bite of the proverbial forbidden fruit and guilt grows. The only way to be restored to… Read more »
