kemmeyer added a text contribution Love in suffering.I looked at this verse through new eyes today. What does it look like when I'm in pain? When I've been wronged? When I'm the recipient of injustice? How can I be the light and love others when I'm suffering? I found some notes in my journal from an old service that answered my question. "There is no life with the absence of suffering. People are obsessed with "the event" of the suffering (e.g.,... Read more »

kemmeyer added a text contribution You got the guts to ask God this question?I originally heard this in a series about marriage, but it applies to all relationships. We walk into every relationship with something inside of us God has been wanting 2 pull out of us. As long as it is still inside, it will cause damage. "God, what is it IN me that you want to pull out of me? Lord, I know the process will be painful, but I believe you when you promise it will prepare me for... Read more »

kemmeyer added a text contribution Working on it...The more I meditate on these verses, the more I am I'm filled with tension. The tension between how far I've come and how far I still have to go. Pastor Steven Furtick posted this quote online yesterday: "The discrepancy between who you are & who you want to be is God's favorite workspace. Let Him do His thing in u today." And, right in verse 13--there it is. God is at work in me. My prayer:... Read more »

kemmeyer added a text contribution Love is a verbThis verse is helpful to me when I am trying to love the unlovable. I'm reminded at how Jesus loves me the most when I'm unlovable. If he can love me at my worst, it motivates me to be more like him. Many times the people who treat us the worst need the most love, understanding, and kindness from us. This is hardest to do with the people we're closest to. Reading this verse every day for a week is... Read more »

Entering this series I assumed we'd be talking love in the context of marriage. But in reading the first three verses my mind totally went to our "small group" and our team in the Commu… Read more »

kemmeyer added a link contribution When it collapses...why I do what I do"This is a man with a history of duty and patriotism. Not as punch lines, but as core beliefs. Some people don't know what to do when their belief system collapses. - Colonel Issac Johnson, Shooter I actually hit rewind when Danny Glover's character said this and listened to him say it again. It caused me pause. I reflected on so many examples that affect our world because of that reality. Some people... Read more »
