It can also be translated 'wild and waste' or 'chaos'. God is someone who brings order from chaos, flourishing from waste, light from darkness. kezrush added a text contribution Eve says, God says...I could be wrong (it's late and I haven't put a lot of thought into this), but I believe the first time we have a written record of the name for God (YHVH) is spoken is Eve in Genesis 4:1. But the first time we have a record of God saying it is Exodus 3:14 when he tells Moses my name is "I AM" (YHVH). Very interesting to me. Read more »
