    As some Bible scholars interpret the fig tree as one which symbolizes the chosen nation, Israel, I also believe that the cursed fig tree presents a metaphor of a child of God not bearing "fruit". Jesus hoped every one of His children to bear good "fruit"... can be fruit of the Holy Spirit, or spiritual fruits (discipling / evangelizing), fruit of fulfilling our destiny and purpose in life, etc. And when God sees that we don't produce fruit, he becomes VERY disappointed.… Read more »

    This is why it's hard to just give an unchristian person a glimpse of the whole Christian life right there and there. You have to fervently pray for that person first so that God will prepare his heart and then share to him the gospel, the gift of salvation, before anything else. A good foundation is the main key.
