God tells us in this verse that since we've been given the gift of salvation and been grafted into God's family tree... (shared in the spiritual blessing of the Jews...) we owe it to them to share our money and material blessings with them. The Jews are God's chosen people, the apple of His eye, and we need to continually pray for the peace of Jerusalem, and do whatever we can to be a blessing to them!! Read more »

lindze added a text contribution Moving Mountains"The kind of prayer that moves mountains is prayer for the fruitfulness of God's Kingdom. It would seem impossible to move a mountain into the sea, so Jesus used that illustration to show that God can do the impossible. God WILL answer your prayers... but not as a result of your positive mental attitude. Other conditions must be met: (1) You must be a believer; (2) you must not hold a grudge against another person; (3) you must not pray with selfish motives; (4) your request must b… Read more »

lindze added a text contribution On fire for God!"As for us, we cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard!" Peter and John were so on fire for God and filled with passion for witnessing and leading others to Jesus! I want to live with that kind of passion! If anyone tries to stop us or mocks us for being sold out to God, we must realize (like Peter and John say in the first verse) that we have to listen and obey God rather than people, and be confident enough to speak the truth in love regardless of what people will t… Read more »

lindze added a text contribution God is testing you..."The Lord your God is testing you to find out whether you love Him with all your heart and with all your soul. It is the Lord your God you must follow, and Him you must revere. Keep His commands and obey Him; serve Him and hold fast to Him." If we're ever tempted to be swayed by other religions or teachings that go against the Bible, or when we feel like living life God's way is too difficult, this is a wonderful verse to remember! lindze added a text contribution "Now CHOOSE life..."How awesome to know that God has set before us life and death; blessings and curses... He allows us to make the choice! We can be bitter and resentful, or choose to forgive those who hurt us. We can refuse to exercise and eat whatever we want and suffer the consequences, or choose to live a healthy lifestyle. We can sit back and be apathetic, or step up and lead confidently. We can give in to temptations, or actively resist the devil! It's up to us... we can CHOOSE to keep our minds an… Read more »

lindze added a text contribution pursue PEACE"Did you know there is strength in living at peace? That’s why the Lord commands that we live at peace with those around us. When there’s strife and contention, then the enemy has an open door to move in your life. But when we are at peace with those around us, we are in a position of strength. Being at peace with those around you doesn’t mean you have to agree with everyone. It simply means you are walking in love. It means you are patient and kind, not envious, not boastful. It means you… Read more »

lindze added a text contribution Need Wisdom? Ask God!"Do you need wisdom for something today? Ask God. He loves it when you call upon Him, and He longs to give generously to you. Do you need wisdom to lead your family? Do you need wisdom on your job? Do you need wisdom for a decision you have to make in life? Ask God! The next verse goes on to say that when you ask, you must ask in faith without wavering. That means you have to be absolutely determined to get your answer from Him. You can’t just ask and then decide to do things your… Read more »

lindze added a text contribution Waiting on God"Do you need strength today? Sometimes it’s easy to get down and discouraged when you’re constantly looking at the circumstances of life. You may feel tired and weary from a long battle. But when you wait on the Lord, the Bible says your strength will be renewed. Waiting on the Lord means you’re putting your trust and hope in Him. You’re living with an attitude of faith and expectancy. In the natural, if you are waiting for someone like a special dinner guest, you’re probably not just… Read more »

lindze added a text contribution Powerful Perseverance!!"YOU NEED TO PERSEVERE SO THAT WHEN YOU HAVE DONE THE WILL OF GOD, YOU WILL RECEIVE WHAT HE HAS PROMISED." -Hebrews 10:36 "What are you believing God for today? Promotion? Healing? Stronger relationships? Deliverance? God has promised all these things to you in His Word because it’s His heart for you to live in blessing and wholeness all the days of your life. When you do the will of God by obeying His Word and precepts, it opens the door for His promises to be fulfilled… Read more »

lindze added a text contribution It's up to us...This verse is so challenging to me. We can look at the world and complain about how things have gone downhill. We may blame the decay of our society on the government leaders or on Hollywood or whatever else. However, as our nation is falling, this verse indicates that it is actually God's chosen people, the Christians, that have the power and responsibility to turn things around. We have to seek God sincerely, surrender our worldy desires to Him, and be set apart! We should absolutely… Read more »

lindze added a text contribution Aim for harmony...I will have to give a personal account to God, as will you. There's no reason to waste time judging or being critical of others. This verse says to make sure that we don't become a stumbling block to a fellow Christian. God wants us to aim for peace and harmony in the church and try to BUILD EACH OTHER UP! Read more »

lindze added a text contribution Godly wisdom"The wisdom of God is first pure; in other words, it is not two-faced, having an outward appearance of Godliness mixed with an envious or selfish motive... Godly wisdom always focuses on the good of others, not itself. It's peaceable, not quarrelsome, overbearing, critical, or dominating. Its root motive is to see others walking in Godliness and fulfilling their destiny." (-John Bevere, Driven By Eternity) Read more »

lindze added a text contribution ...first of all pureWhat an amazing verse! In I Corinthians 13:4-8, the first quality listed with love is "love is patient." In this verse, the first quality of Godly wisdom is purity. Something good to keep in mind. True love waits and chooses to obey God! Read more »

lindze added a text contribution Avoid Strife!"Are you praying and seeking God for a change in your life? Does there seem to be an invisible roadblock preventing you from experiencing God's blessing and favor to the fullest? The Bible tells us that when we hold on to strife, it brings confusion. Strife opens the door to every evil work of the enemy. Strife can creep in like a cancer to steal your peace, destroy relationships, and extinguish hope. You must constantly stay on guard against strife and make the decision to walk i… Read more »

What an awesome verse! We are so blessed to be able to read the Word of God, yet we only know a small portion of the miracles and teachings of Jesus. You can tell that as John writes this, he wants us to understand what a privilege it was to live when Jesus lived and to know Him on that level. Even more exciting to me is knowing that through the Holy Spirit, God is able to reveal truths to us and we can know Him on a very personal level as well! God is awesome!!! Read more »

lindze added a text contribution "FOLLOW ME."I LOVE this verse! Jesus says so much in such a simple statement: "You must follow Me." We have to stop comparing ourselves with everyone around us. Whether we're trying to conform to the world or trying to copy someone we think is more spiritually mature than us, we're not putting our focus on God. We need to simply run our own race that God has set out for us! God has an individual plan for everyone, and we need to follow His leading regardless of what anyone else may… Read more »

lindze added a text contribution Surrender and be blessed! We so often try to do things our own way, in our selfish timing, without consulting or listening to God. This verse reminds me that God WANTS to bless us! He wants us to be so filled with His presence and love and joy that we're overflowing with it! But first, we have to choose to simply surrender our own plans (which are usually not working out for us anyway) and obey Him completely. "For the Lord God is a sun and shield;the Lord bestows favor and honor; NO GOOD THING does he wi… Read more »

lindze added a text contribution God of peaceGod is a God of peace, and calls us to live in peace and let peace rule in our hearts (Colossians 3:12-17). God wants to give us the strength and to equip us with all we need to do His will... not to chase after our own plans, but to obey and follow Him! He will always strengthen us as we choose to live fully devoted to Him! Our God is an awesome God!! Read more »

lindze added a text contribution God's chosen representatives! These verses are so encouraging... what an honor we have to be God’s chosen representatives here on earth, and yet we (myself included) so often fail to walk in love and to live in peace with others. What an awesome impact we could have on the world if we would truly BE the church God has called us to be!! "Since God chose you to be the holy people whom He loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. You must make allowance for… Read more »

lindze added a text contribution ETERNAL valueFAITH, HOPE, AND LOVE have eternal value. This includes having faith in God and believing in Jesus as the Messiah… living with quiet confidence and joy, and having hope for the future regardless of your circumstances… loving God with all your heart, walking in love and reaching out to others with compassion, loving your enemies and treating them well, and speaking the Truth in love to those who don’t know Jesus! This attitude will honor God and draw people to Christ!! Some things that don’t… Read more »

lindze added a text contribution Choose this day who you will serve!“Choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve… but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” ~Joshua 24:15 God hasn’t called us to a life of ease; He calls us to be set apart! I’ve been so convicted lately that I’ve been too lukewarm, living the easy Christian life, and not truly caring about or reaching out to the lost. That’s really the whole point in the end! We are God’s representatives to the world… yet half the time, the way we live and the way we treat each other is act… Read more »

lindze added a text contribution "But you must remain faithful..."Many people today don’t believe in the one true God, and refuse to accept Jesus as the Messiah. They choose to believe in any god, or no god at all, or perhaps god as a concept or a feeling. And they say Jesus was a great teacher, except for that business about claiming to be divine and the only way to the God. There is no defined right or wrong; only relativism. Self is ultimately the center of this man-made religion, and living fully devoted to God stands in stark contrast to the world’s way o… Read more »
