lowlycook added a link contribution God Hates SinnersGod can both hate and love sinners. His hatred is His love, His love is His hatred. His judgment is HIs mercy, HIs mercy is His judgment. It's not just sin; it's also the unrepentant sinner that God hates--and loves. God hated Esau, but God chose him to be Isaac's first born. The first born gets all the blessings. But Esau messed up. lowlycook added a link contribution Love Yourself FirstYou cannot love your neighbor if you do not love yourself first. This self-love mentioned by the Master is not self indulgence. That is idolatry. Godly loving of self is when we totally give up the self to God. Then we can love our neighbors as we love ourselves. In fact, you cannot love your loved ones unless you give them up to God. That's loving other people as we love ourselves. Read more »

lowlycook added a link contribution Christ Must Be Revealed in Our Bodies"But friends, that’s exactly who we are: children of God. And that’s only the beginning. Who knows how we’ll end up! What we know is that when Christ is openly revealed, we’ll see him—and in seeing him, become like him. All of us who look forward to his Coming stay ready, with the glistening purity of Jesus’ life as a model for our own." Being true children of God, we must look like the Son. In fact, the plan is to have Jesus actually and literally revealed or appearing in our bodies-… Read more »

lowlycook added a link contribution Being Radical with GodGod loves it when we go with him through the wilderness. Just like how the Spirit led Jesus to the wilderness to demolish the enemy there. When God sees how daring and excited we are to go with Him through the wilderness as a youth (anyone in Christ is always a new creation, daily), He delights in us. Only in the wilderness is the enemy defeated. Jeremiah says no one wants to travel through the wilderness, a place that had not been planted to anything. With human eyes, it doesn't seem profi… Read more »

lowlycook added a link contribution Kingdom Ownership RuleBlessed are the poor in spirit? Really? How come no one in church today wants to be blessed poor, even in spirit? Everyone's looking for a mega church to attend or build. Most look for popularity avenues, even going as far as imitating popular secular groups or activities. So few are (or no one is) taking Jesus seriously. Yet many claim salvation "by grace." There are many confusing things and inconsistencies, not in the bible or about God, but among church people. Who are they re… Read more »

lowlycook added a link contribution The Church Should See that Possessions are NothingThe verse says Jesus unequivocally downplayed any reference to material possessions. Somewhere else, he said only the poor in spirit will inherit God's Kingdom. Moreover, he said in Luke 14 that anyone who does not give up everything he or she has cannot be his disciple. Yet, churches today scramble for what properties they can grab, calling it "church planting," and marvel at mega churches with moneyed people and super structures, calling them successful churches. The church is m… Read more »

lowlycook added a link contribution Uproot Before You PlantThis verse is supplemental to Jesus saying, old wineskins cannot hold new wine and you reap what you sow. We often just plant and plant, especially when everyone's all excited about planting, or keep pouring in new wine in cracked and antiquated wine containers. We fail to see that planting with all the other trash around is useless, and pouring new wine into old wineskin ruins everything! Yes, Jesus said don't pull the weeds yet as the good plants might be damaged. But he also said a… Read more »

lowlycook added a link contribution Jeremiah was Called to Destroy--as the Church isA radical Jesus church is like the radical Jeremiah. It is called to destroy and yet be meek and persecuted. We are called to uproot, tear down, destroy, and overthrow before we can build and plant. And the first thing the church should destroy is the church that human organization built. Jeremiah was called to destroy, first of all, the bible-believing nation of Israel that had become idolatrous without the people knowing it--without worshiping actual idols. The church today worships denomina… Read more »
