Ruth wanted to go out and work so she wouldn't be a burden to Naomi. She ended up in the fields of Boaz, but obviously this was directed by God. Boaz took an immediate interest in Ruth, and wanted to keep her safe and watch over her. Just like God our Father has a huge interest in each of us, and He wants to keep us safe and watch over us. Naomi decided to return to Israel and told her daughter-in-laws to return to their own homeland too. Ruth had such a love and acceptance of Naomi that she was willing to give up her hopes of security and children, and go with Naomi. Ruth said that Naomi's people would become her people and Naomi's God would become her God. When Naomi returned to her homeland, she told the people about her hardships... Read more »

    mdonahoe7 added a text contribution Micah 7
In this the final chapter of Micah, we see gloom at first, then see finally see hope. Micah saw society going down the drain. Government leaders were being dishonest and corrupt. Deceit and dishonesty was also ruining the family. It seemed that the people were so far away from God that on God's judgment could purify the people and lead them back to God. God enjoys showing mercy and is glad when... Read more »

The people of God had gone against Him and had built pagan altars and had sacrificed to false gods. Now God is proclaiming the judgment to come against them. The people had been lead astray and had turned to false gods and had forgotten about their Father, the one true God. Even though God loves them and continually tried to get them to turn from their wicked ways, the would not listen and now judgment... Read more »

Jesus is very obviously talk about here, Micah telling of the coming of a Savior. He will come out of Bethlehem, a place so small and supposedly insignificant that no one would think of something so great coming from there. Just as today, we often think we are so small and unable to do anything for the Lord, but with the power of the Holy Spirit, we can do great things by letting God work in us and... Read more »

    mdonahoe7 added a text contribution Micah 4
Again, the Life Application Study Bibles states: the last days refers to the days when God will reign over his perfect kingdom. Although we cannot know for certain the date this will begin, we know that God has promised that it will arrive. Mican predicts the end of the kings, which was a drastic statement to the people of Judah. After a period of time, God would return His people to their land,... Read more »

The rulers and prophets of Israel were certainly not following the way of the Lord. They were putting aside God's way and more or less doing what wanted and teaching others their ways. The Life Application Bible states: The leaders had no compassion or respect for those they wre supposed to be serving. They were treating the people miserable in order to satisfy their own desires. Then they asked... Read more »

This chapter is very clear, people who plan evil things are eventually going to be in big trouble. While reading notes from the Life Application Bible, I saw a few interesting comments. In verse 1 and 2, the plans we make can reflect our true character. Evil thoughts lead to evil deeds. God's main plan for the harshness of the message is to try and bring His people back onto the right path. When... Read more »

This chapter clearly shows that God is a just God. When people go against Him and do what is not pleasing to Him, there are consequences to pay. While looking at the Life Application Study Bible, I saw that Jerusalem was the capital city of Judah and Samaria was the capital of Israel. It states that the two sins identified were perversion of worship and injustice toward others. These sins were going... Read more »

We are to obey our government leaders and our employers, as long as that does not go against the will of God. We are not to speak bad things about anyone, but be kind to all. We are saved by the grace of God, not of works or our own goodness. One we are saved through faith, then we can let our good works shine so that others will see the love of God. We aren't to get into worthless, meaningless... Read more »

    mdonahoe7 added a text contribution Titus 2
Here we are being shown the way we should live our lives on a daily basis. Men, women, young people are shown a way to live that will be a great witness of the love and power of God. By living this way on a daily basis, people will see God in us. We should each live in such a way that non-believers won't be able to condemn us on our behavior. Even bond-servants and masters, or more appropriately... Read more »

Paul starts out by establishing his place in Christ, the same as all of us, bondservants and saved through faith in Jesus Christ. Paul is giving Titus guidelines and directions on setting up authority in the church. Unfortunately, here on earth man has a hand in running the church and as we all know, man usually messes things up in regard to God's plans and ideas. Paul wants Titus to have the proper... Jonah was actually mad that God had spared Ninevah. Jonah was ready to see Ninevah destroyed because of their evil ways, but when God showed mercy on the people and accepted their request for forgiveness, Jonah was angry. Now, was he mad because he thought the people of Ninevah deserved to be destroyed or was has mad because he felt he looked like an idiot because the destruction he preached about... Read more »

Jonah was given a second chance. This time he didn't blow it. He obeyed the Word of God and went to Nineveh and preached God's word. Jonah preached a message that was not popular, it was bad news. He told them they were going to be overthrown. The amazing thing to Jonah was the people listened and they believed God. They made a change, they repented and asked God to turn from His anger. God obviously... Read more »

Now that Jonah was undergoing punishment from the Lord, he realized his mistake and repented for it. So many times we do the same thing, we have to get into trouble before we wake up and see things God's way. It was stated similarly in Psalm 119:71 'it is good for me that I have been afflicted, that I may learn Your statutes'. We humans always seem to take the wrong way and have to go through God's... Jonah was told by the Lord to go do a job, he was to speak out against the sins of the people of Ninevah. Jonah did not want to go and do as the Lord commanded so he fled and tried to run away from God. Unfortunately, Jonah (and ourselves) cannot hide from God. God has designed each of us for a specific purpose and job for His kingdom. By running away, Jonah caused all kinds of trouble for himself... Read more »

We are to bear one anothers burdens, and help those that have fallen. To many times today we Christians woud rather kick the person that is down rather than lend him a hand to help him up. Let us not be that way. We are to share the Word of God with others, not just learn it and keep it to ourselves. We are to be careful in what we do. If we do things to gain status in the world, we will only gain... Read more »
