It seems so simple that God is not going to provide something that is completely ridiculous. If I asked God to prove that he is real by striking my car with lightning, obviously that would be testing God. It seems as though Christians today think that God will do whatever they ask or tell Him to do, and then they stop believing when He doesn't do it.
