I believe this passage may elude to the very reason that the Bible was written. It is the Lord that has provided us with these books in order to instruct us on godliness, so that we may have godliness value for all things in this present life and the next. It shows us his kindness and caring nature for all of us; holding true to his promise in us. Read more »

mepoorgamer added a text contribution The anger of God
God is clearly not happy in this passage with the people of Israel. This is no empty threat for this is the creator of everything. Sometimes, I think people lose track of who God really is; He is the creator... of everything! Read more »

mepoorgamer added a text contribution For three sins, even for four
I'm still trying to understand the intended meaning behind the phrase used here: "For three sins of ..., even for four, I will not turn back my wrath." The contemporary English version uses the phrase "for countless crimes". The Lord maybe saying: "even after ignoring 3 sins, nay even 4 sins, I will not turn back my wrath". Or is he saying perhaps, "because of 3 sins, even because of 4 sins?". Or is he saying, "to gain 3 sin, even 4 sins". T… Read more »

In this quick retelling of the beginning old testament, God's actions are clearly shown; slow to anger, patient, caring, powerful, just, etc. If I had been God I would have given up on these people long ago. The fact alone that he waited 40 years sustaining them while they turned there heads from him. If you notice, it wasn't until they started killing his prophets did he finally say enough is enough. I fear that I may be too idle, that I spend too much time for myself and not enough for the Lord. I pray that I might be able to listen to the Lord, that I might learn from his example, and act accordingly. Read more »

'the autumn rains of righteousness', I like this part of the verse. I don't know what it means but it sounds good. Though I imagine it is good for the Lord's people, it must be horrifying for those that are not. Read more »

(42,360 residents + 7,337 servants + 245 singers)=49,942 residents then -> 732,100 residents now, (stat taken from [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jerusalem]). The city's population is now a little under 15 times bigger than in that time period. Using some simplified math its about one person born extra in the city every day for 2,000 years. Read more »
