natek88 added a text contribution Selfish Disciples
These two passages in Mark 9 and 10 are very interesting. Mark is obviously making a point about how clueless and selfish the disciples were. Twice we see Jesus just finish telling the disciples that he was going to have to die a horrible and humiliating death and the next passages of scripture each time show the disciples selfishly wanting to be the greatest. Before we judge, we are often clueless disciples as well. We chase money, power, sex and things that have no eternal value. Jesu… Read more »

natek88 added a text contribution A Spit Bath From Jesus
This story is incredible. A deaf mute- no ability to talk or hear was brought to Jesus. I'm not sure why Jesus decided to put his fingers into the man's ears or why he put his spit on the man's tongue because he could have just said to him, be healed and he would have been healed. If I would speculate, many it is because Jesus wanted this to be an intimate encounter, not just another miracle. Three things tell me this: 1) Jesus took him aside from the crowd, just the two of… Read more »

natek88 added a text contribution Unbelief
Jesus is amazed at the unbelief of the people. That hits me, although Jesus is 100% God and knows people's hearts and isn't surprised about anything, this really displays his humanity as well. Even Jesus in his humanity is amazed at the unbelief of his people. Isn't this at the heart of who we are as a sin human race? We doubt, we don't have faith, we don't trust, we rebel, we criticize. Even when Jesus displayed the power and authority of God through miracles a… Read more »

natek88 added a text contribution Dead to Alive
Here we see again Jesus' power displayed in this miracle of resurrecting a dead girl. So far we've seen his power over physical healing, power over the demons, ability to read people's thoughts, power over the elements and now his power over death. And this is exactly why Jesus came isn't it? He didn't come to make bad men good. He didn't come to make good men better. He came to make dead men alive spiritually and physically for eternity! Praise God! Read more »

natek88 added a text contribution Rebuking the Wind
What an amazing display of power by Jesus, creator of the world! This was the first time Jesus displayed his power over the elements of wind and water. Of course, we understand that this is just the tip of the iceberg for Jesus but imagine if you were in the boat with him at that time and watched what took place. Yes, fear, shock and awe would also be my reaction, so don't jump on the disciples back about being clueless yet! This is just another evidence of Jesus Christ being God who al… Read more »

Even the pharisees recognized that Jesus' power either was of God or of Satan, they just chose the wrong one! Most people don't have a problem with Jesus. They think he was just a good teacher, a good man who spoke of peace and love. I have a problem with that and so does the Bible! The pharisees were right in understanding that Jesus was either God or Satan. They knew that he just wasn't a good teacher. Next time you hear someone say that about God, challenge them with this… Read more »

natek88 added a text contribution Are You Sick or Healthy?
Jesus came for the broken, sinful, rebellious- in other words, he came for all of mankind! Yet many times we concentrate so much on feeding the healthy that we neglect feeding the spiritually sick. Christ was concerned with making spiritually dead men alive and so we too should be concentrating on introducing others to the great healer, Jesus Christ. Read more »

natek88 added a text contribution Jesus is God
Here in Mark 2:4-12 we see Jesus doing what only God can do, forgive sins. The teachers knew this, they studied the scriptures so they were well aware that when Jesus said, "Young man, your sins are forgiven" that he was putting himself equal with God. Jesus, knowing all things called them out on their thoughts and motives- again proving that he is above physical laws. Not only did he heal the man physically but he breathed life in him eternally. Just another proof from Scripture t… Read more »
