In Genesis 11:1-9 Man sough to reach god by building a tower to the heavenly places. They were able to collaborate because they spoke in one tongue. Their sin was that they tried to reach Him by heir own power and ability. God confused their languages and dispersed them throughout the lands. On the Day of Pentecost, God allowed all who gathered to hear in their own language so that He may bring them to Himself. By His power. Read more »

I don't know if this is a girl thing only or if guys experience it as well but we seem to have the ability to instantly go from a good mood to "if you talk to me I'm gonna bite your head off". I'm in the "bite your head off" stage right now. I was doing fine this morning. Listened to part of a podcast on contentment on my way to work, have been listening to worship style music all morning and then out of no where it was all over. I have been praying that Go… Read more »

This Psalm is my favorite passage in the Bible. I was reading it this morning and verses 7-12 blew me away. I am confident of my salvation and know that it can never be taken from me. I know that God will never leave me or forsake me. However, when I read these words this morning something happened. The Psalmist reiterates over and over again within these few verses that we can never escape from the presence of the Lord. He says that even if he were to go to Sheol which is Hell even the… Read more »

Ephesians 3:20 & 21 are the Bible Gateway verses of the day today (07.09.08). I think that because of our flesh we put boundaries on what God can do. But these verses as well as Philippians 1:6 reassure us that the all powerful God is doing much more in our lives that we could ever think or imagine and He is faithful to complete it. I can testify that it is difficult to on hold to this truth and I get wearisome as He works. I try to remain focused on Him and know that this work will brin… Read more »

prudy added a text contribution The waiting in prayer
How long do you pray for something? Couple days? Months? Years? There is a lot to be said for prayer. Not only is it a conduit between us and God, but it can cause us to be very vulnerable. God knows us explicitly down to the number of hairs on our head but when we come before Him in prayer we realize our weaknesses, our struggles, our pitfalls, our depravity. It is a lot for these pieces of dust to take in, thank God we have a Savior that already knows these things and died for our sins… Read more »

Yesterday I was listening to my iPod at work as I usually do to help keep my sanity. Someone came in and asked what I was listening to. I replied that it was a podcast of a church in Texas. Later in the afternoon again he was back in our area and jokingly asked if I was getting saved, I replied that I was already there. He jokingly responded that I should start acting like it and stop being mean. I joked back and that was the end of it. I started thinking about the whole thing again last n… Read more »

My favorite passage in the Bible is the entire chapter of Psalm 139. It became my "life verse (chapter)" after after entering into a depression that was caused by medicine I was required to take. It speaks volumes regarding God knowing us from before the creation of anything. As Jeremiah 29:11 God has plans for us. And they just aren't any plans like doing laundry (ordinary, methodical, tedious) but plans for hope, a future, good, etc. He had these plans worked out for us and… Read more »

prudy added a text contribution Jesus sends before He commissions
I just realized that Jesus actually sent out disciples into the world to preach the Gospel before He had died, before He gave the great commission. And they were to take nothing just the good news of Jesus they didn't even have the Bible, just word of mouth. Today I not only have the Bible, I have reference books, thousands upon thousands of testimonies of God's redeeming work, etc. what prevents me from sharing? Read more »

We've been struggling with waiting for God to reveal His will. We know in part what He is doing but to where and what is where we do not know. As we continue to pray and He speaks to us we've had an increasing desire for people. To be involved with a missionally minded church. A few weeks back I felt the Lord pressing on me that I should fast. I have issues with my blood sugar plummeting if I don't eat so I knew it couldn't be a food fast. This morning He revealed to me… Read more »
