Ephesians 4:7 - But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ. In Ephesians Chapter 4, the imprisoned Apostle Paul is extorting his fellow believers to walk worthy of the calling they have in Christ Jesus. In the first few verses we see a context for that calling given in the unity of Spirit required to walk worthy of the calling of Christ, and a inkling... Read more »

Ephesians 4:6 One God and Father of all, who [is] above all, and through all, and in you all. In this passage the Apostle Paul continues his thought on the necessity of Unity of the Spirit, for the purpose of fulfilling our calling in Jesus Christ. That Unity in the Spirit is part of the unity of the body, the Spirit, faith, baptism and now in verse 6 the unity of God the Father. In this profound... Read more »

Eph 4:5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism, A foundation of sound doctrine is necessary to fulfill our calling in Christ Jesus. This passage pretty much debunks the “there are many ways to heaven” philosophy. The first two “ones” are the Greek numeral “1”. There are other words that could have been used to denote unity of diverse believes, but the numeral “1” was used to clearly state that... Read more »

Ephesians 4:3 Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. Unity is something we have to work at. It doesn’t come natural. But is is necessary to fulfill our calling. Endeavouring implies work, dilligence, and haste. Keep is a great word that brings to mind a impenatrible castle set to protect its people. Unity must be not only developed, but it must be protected. The... Read more »

Ephesians 4:2 With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; In Ephesians 4:1 we are called to be worthly of our vocation, which is to rule and reign with Jesus Christ. Today in our culture, we tend to look down on our youth as foolish and immature. However, when one looks at the life of King David, you see a man who at a very youing age accomplished great things: Age 12: Annointed by Samual the Prophet to be King of Isreal (1Sam 16) Age 14: Plays harp in the King's palace (1Sam 16:17) Age 16: Defeats a 12 foot tall giant with a hand sling and a rock. (1Sam 17)... Read more »

Fourty Years? !!! Absolon is at the gate causing an insurrection and we see nothing mentioned about King David correcting him for fourty years. That is a long time to let a sin like this go on with no correction. We love the "man after God's own heart", but he does have some fatal flaws, like the rest of the bible heros, and this is one of them. Since Absolom is no longer a child, I am not... Read more »

In no way is what Absolon did to his father or his Lord right, it was pure sin. However, this verse shows that David was attacked at his point of weakness. Satan ALWAYS attacks us at our point of weakness. In this case, apparently David was not a good delegator. This can be a deadly weakness for leaders, and it was almost deadly for the "Man after God's own Heart" God's heart is effective delegation,... Read more »

Wow, anyone who has had to serve in leadership has seen this "Absolon" syndrome in action. This is still way too prevelant today. Someone who thinks they are better qualified to lead than the leader, rather than volunteering to help, begins to assult the leader who is rightfully in charge. Read more »
