These verses speak volumes to the "reason" we were created. It wasn't so that God could watch us and laugh when we screw up. He's not a bully with a prod looking for an opportunity to scorn us. From the begining He has been trying to show that we are one humanity in Christ, who is ultimately human. As we grow closer to Christ we become a little more "human." The church is called the body of Christ and we are being used to show the "heavenly authorities" th… Read more »

These verses tell us that we have the same place as Jesus does in the pecking order of the universe! God has given us a place on the throne through Jesus. Whom then shall I fear? In Jesus name we have the ability to do the very same miracles that the apostles did. The only difference is that they knew it AND believed it. Here in America we would say that it's some demonic force or a fluke. What would happen if WE lived in a way that showed we believed this. To speak truth into peoples lives… Read more »

We have all heard the excuse before " I think i live a "good" life , God will let me into heaven. This is the number one argument I am presented with from the average unbeliever. They honestly believe that God CAN"T banish them from His presenvce because they live a "good" life. Ephesians 2:8 shuts down this entire argument. Here Paul tells us that we are saved by grace through faith, If we believe that the only hope we have is the grace of God, and call out to HIM… Read more »

This is a beautiful representation of what exactly a church should look like. Everyone is different and has different talents given by the spirit. If we are striving to be closer to Christ we will grow together. As we grow up into the things God has put before us we should resemble the picture of Christ. Too many times at different churches I've been a part of it is more like a social club. Sunday mornings/afternoons are a mere celebration of what God has done for you in the past and what H… Read more »

This passage is key for us as believers because I Believe this "command" that Paul is giving to a follower to preach the word is for all of us. Some people have the talents needed for evangelism and those of us who don't need to live a life that is worthy of the calling that God has called us as Paul says in his letter to Timothy.I'm sure everyone has heard the phrase "actions speak louder than words." This rings so true for Christians because people are watching us… Read more »

This scripture is amazing to me. Throughout the NT people are sent together to go and change the culture which they are sent. This verse is yet another example of how Paul tell Timothy to surround himself with God fearing people to encourage his exploration of God. As Americans we have this notion that "godliness" is only a solo flight. This is totally the antonym of what the Bible is showing. Without support from people who love the Lord with all they are we are lost in satan's p… Read more »

sgtbrentduffield added a text contribution The Christian life
This is imperitive to us as Christians. If we call ourselves this we must "abstain from wickedness.." In my life what does this look like? It means for me to be set apart from the rest of the world in my hopes, dreams, ambition, and how we live day to day. If we do this Paul tells us that we will be used by God to do the things that God has planned for us since before we were born. We must eliminate our own agenda's and be willing to live a "pecuiliar" life. We will be s… Read more »

This scripture is pivotal in our understanding of "who" we are in Christ. Paul tells Timothy that the spirit God has granted every Christian is "bold, loving, and disciplined." What does that mean for us in everyday life. For me it simply means that i must allow my spirit to live through me. I have to quit trying so hard to do the right things and just let my spirit guide my day. Another is to realize that in another letter Timothy would've read (Ephesians) he tells us t… Read more »
