shaun-thejourney-maine added a text contribution Taking out the TrashToday more than ever we have to recognize that Jesus is the sole authority (maybe that should be soul authority) on maintaining sexual purity. Especially in today's world where morals are extremely subjective. Why would Paul have to deal with this in the Bible ?? It was common in those days for men to take multiple wives, of course temple worship was common among the gentiles. Homosexuality was common... Read more »

shaun-thejourney-maine added a text contribution We dared to tell you ...... Even in the face of strong oppositionPaul hit the nail on the head when he said, "We dared to tell you about the Gospel even in the face of strong opposition". This could not be more pertinent today. Society has arrived at a place where morality is subjective and your morals may not be the same as mine. Even in the church we have developed a therapeutic religion, where clear moral standards are set aside in favor of ethical ambiguity... Read more »

shaun-thejourney-maine added a text contribution Your Faith has become known EverywhereIn a door-to-door survey conducted by Willow Creek Community Church of South Barrington, IL (which is probably the largest church in the U.S.), the question was asked: "If you don’t go to church, why?" The five biggest reasons: 1- Boring 2- Irrelevant 3- Asking for money all the time 4- I’m too busy already 5- I feel awkward at church. Many of the things they might mention are well and good in their place, but they are not the most important things to... Read more »

shaun-thejourney-maine added a text contribution Jesus Pays the BillJesus pays the bill, even though He doesn't have too. The temple taxes instituted in Ex 30 for the building of the tabernacle are basically voluntary, some sects pay them and others don't. They are not enforceable by law and Rabbi's and Prominent teachers are most definitely exempt. Of course the Roman taxes were an entirely different story and everyone who's name was on the Census had to pay.... Read more »

shaun-thejourney-maine added a text contribution Inner TurmoilThey say, "from the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks" which pretty much means those thoughts, feelings, and emotions deep down in side of you have a way of coming out even if you try to suppress them. Have you ever noticed that if you are in the presence of someone you truly despise you find yourself saying things you wouldn't normally say, or acting in a way you wouldn't normally act. Sure,... shaun-thejourney-maine added a text contribution Great LeadersThe text says that David became greater an d greater and then goes on to list the name of the great men that served with him. There is a direct connection to David's greatness and the men that served. Mathew Henry mentions that "much of the strength and honor of great men is borrowed from their servants and depends upon them" -- see MH on this chapter 1 Chron 11 Think about it this way, David is...
