    This is so pure and simple and amazing. It is the whole nature of what the church is to be about in every age. This weekend I was reminded of one little word in this fine pair of sentences: OBEY.     Colossians 4:2 sets the table for a holy life. Devote yourself to prayer. Seems to be in line with 1 Thess 5:17, because thankfulness follows it as well. Paul is urging us to stay connected to God, similar to Practicing His Presence or John Burke's 60-60 challenge. This kind of prayerfulness seems to lead us into sanctification at much deeper levels.     I want to dig in fresh ways around this verse this week. What does it really mean? I'm reading a couple of books, Rendezvous by Frank Moore, and Soul Revolution by John Burke.     Generosity. Is there anything better? Once you get the hang of it, sharing feels great! God has always understood this. That's why God has lavished so much on us through Jesus. He loves it!     What a beautiful scene! Perhaps the crowning moment of David's reign. After a lifetime of spiritual successes and failures, David is down to his last big move. He wants to invest in something that will outlast him so he divests himself of earthly treasures. Truly the concept of the Kingdom of God gets a little clearer in a passage like this.
