  • Deuteronomy 10:14

    Deuteronomy 10:14 (MSG)
Look around you: Everything you see is god's—the heavens above and beyond, the Earth, and everything on it. But it was your ancestors who god fell in love with; he picked their children—that's you!—out of all the other peoples. That's where we are right now. So cut away the thick calluses from your heart and stop being so willfully hardheaded. god, your God, is the God of all gods, he's the Master of all masters, a God immense and powerful and awesome. He doesn't play favorites, takes no bribes, makes sure orphans and widows are treated fairly, takes loving care of foreigners by seeing that they get food and clothing.

    1 Corinthians 10:13 (MSG)
No test or temptation that comes your way is beyond the course of what others have had to face. All you need to remember is that God will never let you down; he'll never let you be pushed past your limit; he'll always be there to help you come through it.

  • God who gives bread for this season

    Exodus 16:4 (MSG)
god said to Moses, "I'm going to rain bread down from the skies for you. The people will go out and gather each day's ration. I'm going to test them to see if they'll live according to my Teaching or not. On the sixth day, when they prepare what they have gathered, it will turn out to be twice as much as their daily ration."

    Exodus 16:6 (MSG)
Moses and Aaron told the People of Israel, "This evening you will know that it is god who brought you out of Egypt; and in the morning you will see the Glory of god. Yes, he's listened to your complaints against him. You haven't been complaining against us, you know, but against god."

    Exodus 16:8 (MSG)
Moses said, "Since it will be god who gives you meat for your meal in the evening and your fill of bread in the morning, it's god who will have listened to your complaints against him. Who are we in all this? You haven't been complaining to us—you've been complaining to god!"

  • Amos 5:14, Amos 5:21-24

    Amos 5:14 (MSG)
Seek good and not evil— and live! You talk about God, the God-of-the-Angel-Armies, being your best friend. Well, live like it, and maybe it will happen.

    Amos 5:21-24 (MSG)
"I can't stand your religious meetings. I'm fed up with your conferences and conventions. I want nothing to do with your religion projects, your pretentious slogans and goals. I'm sick of your fund-raising schemes, your public relations and image making. I've had all I can take of your noisy ego-music. When was the last time you sang to me? Do you know what I want? I want justice—oceans of it. I want fairness—rivers of it. That's what I want. That's all I want.
