"Silver and Gold have I none, but that which I have give I thee....." What if Peter had some silver or gold? What an ordinary and uneventful story this would have been. The lame man would have asked for money and Peter could have been generous and given to him. So often when we have the ability to meet a need we see that as our response. And it probably should be. But when we see a need and... Read more »

I am a talker. I can talk a good talk and make a good explanation for my beliefs, my faith, my priorities and my God. I know not everyone finds it easy to talk, to stand up in front of crowds or to share their faith. But over time God has blessed me with this. But that's not the problem, or the difficult bit. Because it doesn't matter how well or eloquently you speak - its the actions that count... Read more »

This verse leaps out in its simplicity and profound truth. God can and should be trusted at all times, in all situations, circumstances and occasions. Whatever is going on in my life and yours. We can trust in Him. We should trust in Him. Only in trusting Him fully will we discover the fullness of the life he has for us. He welcomes us to pour out our hearts to him. The art of being a good... Read more »

When things go wrong 3 things are usually to blame - There was no effective project management - A clear goal was not established for everyone to aim towards - The plan was not credible,... There are some great parts to this event in Jesus' ministry. First Jesus is going to Jerusalem for a feast - but where does he purposely go on the way. To Bethesda, a place where "a great number of disabled people used to lie" (NLT) Jesus goes where the needs are. Where the people who are left of society go. Jesus goes where many others would never go. Where is he calling you to go? The next... Read more »

trevoroakchurch added a text contribution How ungrateful am I?
Considering I am sitting with my laptop, reading the word of God, being blessed by others contributions and with limitless access to information and resources I must be exceedingly blessed and rich compared to most of the world's population. But I still moan! I still ask God to sort out things in my life - those things that are so inconvenient and sometimes even stressfull. Dont get me wrong these... Read more »

I love the idea of "seeker friendly services". If they work for you then praise God. However, this verse shows us that Jesus came to do the seeking. To find the most needy, seek them out, reach out to them and save them. Thinking on that for a while can change our perspective. A common prayer of mine is "Lord, please provide opportunities today for me to share my faith". God is faithful and answers... Read more »
