    I feel like God's questions to Israel in these two verses are ones that he probably ends up asking me a lot. What has he done to me, that I would forsake my love for him and go after other things? I have a tendency to wander.     One of the things that I am quickly learning about God is that he doesn't have the word "can't" in his vocabulary. I know that just reading that seems kind of silly; of course God can do anything. Yet he often asks us to do some big, hairy, audacious stuff, just like he did with Jeremiah.     There's a lot that could be said about this verse, but to me the thing that rings true is that even when he didn't feel worthy of it, God chose Jeremiah. This is a great opportunity, but also extremely scary. In a way, God is counting on Jeremiah to preach and share a difficult message with God's people. In the same way, each of us as disciples has been commissioned by Jesus to bear fruit (John 15:16).... Read more »
