    It's unfortunate that so many churches in our day operate as the Corinthian church did over 2000 years ago. Possibly the biggest problem then and now is division. This often comes with talented staff. It's the golden calf issue. When you can't see God people desire to make creation their god. Humanity has a deep desire to exalt the gifted and make them a god.     When you consider the rebuke that the Corinthians are about to receive throughout the letter it's to some degree surprising that Paul is so thankful for them. However it seems as though what Paul is thankful for in the Corinthians is the grace that is given to them by God in the midst of their waywardness.
